1. Getting started

1.1. Installation

The installation file and the required license can be obtained from your TOPOFLIGHT supplier.

Installing TOPOFLIGHT NAVIGATOR:

1. Run the setup file provided by your TOPOFLIGHT supplier and follow the instructions in the setup wizard.

2. Activate your software license.

3. Run NAVIGATOR.

   

1.2. Licensing

1.2.1. Information about the current license

NAVIGATOR software is protected by a software key from Thales Sentinel. This key is supplied by your software provider. A free 10-day demo license can be obtained from TOPOFLIGHT company.

Checking the current license:

1. Select the licensing tab in the main menu.

2. The license information then is shown:

Display the license information in the web interface:

1. Start your web browser.

2. Type in the following address: localhost:1947

3. Select the Sentinel Keys tab to show the license information:

Hint

In releases from 2026 onward, direct license updates can be made via the TOPOFLIGHT License Server.

1.3. Startup overview

When launching the NAVIGATOR, three separate windows open simultaneously:

the operator display (main interface), the pilot display and the SensorHandler window.

1.4. Project selection

At startup, all active projects are listed in the main window (operator display). Each project includes a quick status overview visualized as a sunburst diagram, indicating the progress of the project.

Hint

Projects and missions can now easily be udated by exchanging .TFX files. Simply use the respective import and export options in the project menu!

Flown: percentage of images/flight lines that have been taken (also indicated by the number in the center of the diagram) Reflight: percentage of images marked for reflight Warning: percentage of images captured with warnings (e.g. blurred images) Error: percentage of images with errors Not flown: remaining percentage of images (not flown or unknown)

Configuring the project list:

1. In the Project menu, click to add one or more projects to the list.

   

2. Use in the main project view to remove projects which are not needed anymore from the project list.

Selecting a project and updating missions:

1. From the project list, click on the sunburst diagram to open the complete project directly.

2. Alternatively, find the project you want to work on and click MISSION.
   The window will now update to show details on the complete flight plan and its individual missions, if they exist.
   Click Open complete project or Open mission, depending on the desired action and availability.

   

3. Export: After a mission or parts of a mission have been flown use to export either all files or only today’s files as a .TFX archive.

4. Import: To import a .TFX archive from a previous flight or a .TXF archive exported from MISSIONPLANNER click . A file explorer window opens, where you can select the file to import.

5. Report: Click to generate a flight report or a project summary.

6. Browse files: Click to open the project folder in the file explorer.

7. Click to return to the main project page.

8. To quit NAVIGATOR click on the main project page.
